ARUNIMA SINHA:- ON THE TOP OF THE WORLD
“When I reached the Hillary
step, my sherpa told me,’ Arunima, let’s go back. Your oxygen supply is running
out.’ Hillary step is just away from Mt Everest. I decided to go ahead come what
may. And in about an hour, I was at the top.”
In spite of all those hardships, she did it. Her strong will power and attitude and trying till the
end made her a legend !
Yes, I am talking about none
other than Arunima Sinha, an Indian mountaineer and sportswoman. She is the
world’s first female amputee to scale Mount Everest and many more. Let’s know
something more about her.
EARLY LIFE:-
Arunima Sinha was born on 20th
July 1989 in Ambedkar Nagar near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Her family consisted
of her father, her mother ,her elder sister and her younger brother. Her father
was in Indian Army and her mother worked as supervisor in Health Department. After
her father’s death, her mother looked after them.
She was a national Volleyball
player. She liked football too.
TRAIN
ACCIDENT:-
On 12 April
2011, Arunima boarded the Padmavati Express train for her CISF examination to
Delhi. The Hooligans in the train wanted her bag and golden chain. They tried
to snatch it from her but she resisted it. Then they pushed Arunima out of the
train. She was falling at the railway track. She saw that the train was coming
towards her, she tried a lot to get up but unfortunately she could’nt.
Meanwhile the train had run over her leg. Her leg was crushed due to parallel
movements of the train. She was treated in the hospital as she had serious
pelvic and leg injuries. She lost her leg. She spent around 4 months in the
hospital. She was provided with prosthetic leg .On the other hand according to media
and police, she tried to commit suicide. Arunima claimed that police were lying
but everyone turned a deaf ear to what she said.
HER STRONG
WILL POWER:-
Despite of
all the hardships, she decided to climb Mt Everest! A normal person would have
cried and thought about how to spend life further and what will happen now. But
this legend girl has only two thoughts in her mind, how to climb Mt Everest and
how to reply all those who pulled her down after the accident. When she decided
her aim, people around her started to mock at her. They started to advise her
to marry and think about how to spent her further life. But she turned a deaf
ear to their sayings.
PLANNING:-
She excelled
in the basic mountaineering course from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering,
Uttarkashi. She contacted Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount
Everest, in 2011. After listening to her story Bachendri Pal encouraged her
that, in this situation to thought to climb. Go ahead and prove that you can
make it.
TRANNING:-
Initially
she took 3 to 4 hours to walk a short distance while others did it very easily.
When she used to walk then blood came out of her prosthetic leg. She used to
get frustrated but again the burning desire never let her quit. After some time
she and her colleagues used to start together from base came but she reached
first.
ACTUAL
JOURNEY WHILE CLIMBING MT. EVEREST:-
She started
from base camp. During her journey a moment came when she saw dead bodies on
the way. Her oxygen supply was low. Her Sherpa advised her to go back but she
said she will not go back what may happen. After few moments, she was on the
top with our Tiranga!!
She is
awarded with Padma Shri, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award and many more.
She kept going on. She climbed all the seven highest peaks in all seven
continents.
In many
interviews, she said a person is not disabled physically but he may be disabled
mentally. She believes the biggest motivator is you yourself. We can do
whatever we want. But we make thousands of reasons and run away from the
challenges. She also believes that, luck favours the brave. If you are working
day and night for your goal God has to give it because you deserve it. In life
there are situation we are alone. Just think that you have came here by walking
step by step. Just put your one step forward and you will be on the top!!!
Really she
is an inspiration for all and specially youths who get stuck in many problems
and decide to give up and quit.
Arunima
Sinha is a true Legend!!!
